June Pixel Drop: Google's artificial intelligence evolves between creativity and productivity
Google has released the new June Pixel Drop, a package of updates that does not just fix bugs, but introduces concrete features that transform the way we interact with the smartphone. For us at bisp&d, who manage the integration between hardware and software in our laboratory every day, these updates represent a significant step forward in the integration of generative AI into the daily workflow.
New tools for creators: AI video and music
The most evident novelty concerns content creation. The Screen reactions feature allows for the integration of a selfie video directly into screen recordings. It is no longer necessary to use external editing apps to create tutorials or reaction videos: the user can resize and move their image in real-time while recording the device's activity.
The evolution continues with the integration of Gemini Omni 2 and Gemini 3. The former allow for the generation and modification of videos starting from text or images, including even the creation of personalized AI avatars. The latter handle the sound part, transforming textual descriptions or photos into original musical tracks complete with lyrics, with the possibility to customize style, tempo, and voice.
Multitasking and connectivity: what really changes
On the productivity front, Google introduces Bubbles. It is now possible to transform almost any application into a floating window simply by pressing and holding the app icon. This feature is particularly effective on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, where bubbles are managed in a dedicated bar at the bottom, optimizing the use of the large screen.
Interesting is the expansion of Voice Translate, which arrives on the Pixel 10a. This feature allows real-time voice translation during calls, supporting several languages including Italian. Furthermore, for those who need to interact with the Apple ecosystem, Quick Share is now compatible with AirDrop on Pixel 8a and 9a models, removing one of the historical barriers between the two operating systems.
Who is this update useful for?
- Content Creators: those who produce quick guides or content for social media will find significant time savings in Screen reactions and Gemini Omni.
- Professionals and Travelers: real-time call translation and advanced multitasking make the device a more efficient assistant.
- "Entry-level" Pixel users: the extension of premium features to the 8a, 9a, and 10a models makes the software experience more homogeneous.
What to check before proceeding
Before looking for these features in the settings, remember that the update is being rolled out gradually. Verify that you have installed the latest version of Android 17 and Wear OS 7. Additionally, make sure that your specific model supports the desired feature: for example, Voice Translate is now available on the 10a, while AirDrop compatibility specifically concerns the 8a and 9a series.
Google's approach with Pixel Drops confirms that purchasing a smartphone is no longer a static event, but a continuous evolution of the device through software.
In conclusion, this update shifts the axis of the Pixel from a simple "smart phone" to a true portable production studio, making AI an operational tool and no longer just a technological curiosity.
